Busy day with some of our local wine and brewing businesses with Chief Secretary to the Treasury, John Glen MP, listening to what Government can do to help. I have been lobbying to change wine duty on our English sparkling wines which are now taxed as normal wines rather than luxury goods. I also lobbied for small brewers relief so that our small breweries can expand without punitive taxes which were preventing them from building their businesses. The Government listened and we had very grateful business owners today. Hambledon Vineyard is the oldest in the country, Quob Vineyard one of the newest - Quob also have a membership club which includes wine, fine dining and a spa. The Flowerpots is one of my favourite pubs and it was great to sit down with John and hear from Nick about the amazing transformation of this village pub. It was a great day in the constituency! #meonvalley #greatbusinesses #winegb #smallbrewery #greatpubs #lovemyjob
