Portsmouth South MP Flick Drummond is urging residents to vote for Southsea Common in a nationwide poll to find the UK’s best open space.

The area has been nominated in the UK’s Best Parks award organised by Fields in Trust with public online voting taking place until the 25th November.

The three parks with the highest number of votes will be shortlisted, before the winner is announced at the Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony at Lord's Cricket Ground in London on 2nd December.

“I very hope that everyone will support Southsea Common and cast their vote, so it can the gain the recognition it richly deserves,” said Flick.

“The area has played a major part of Portsmouth’s life and history, particularly in the summer months, and it’s an amenity the whole city should be very proud of. I will certainly be casting my vote.”
