On Thursday 19th, Transport Minister Robert Goodwill visited Portsmouth where he met Flick Drummond, Cllr Donna Jones, and members of Portsmouth Cycle Forum. Safer cycling is something close to the heart of local Conservatives, and an important ambition in the national promotion of safe, sustainable transport.
Flick said: "The Minister was very impressed with the Cycle Forum's analysis of the problems cyclists face, and their proposals for solutions. Safer cycling is one of the things I am aiming for with my "Plan for Portsmouth", so I'm delighted to see it get this kind of government recognition. Of course there is no "magic wand" solution, but if cyclists know that the determination is there to make progress, I am confident they will back my campaign as well as the work of the Cycle Forum."
