Another joy of being an MP is visiting amazing organisations. This time was supposed to be just the Foodbank at Wickham, only to discover Wickham Pantry and Homestart in full swing at the Wickham Community Centre too. Having worked at a Foodbank in Portsmouth for a couple of years, I know how much work that volunteers put in to sorting out and bagging up food to keep people going. The Wickham Pantry gives out £15 worth of food for £5 per member and they need more volunteers. Homestart provide fantastic support for struggling families especially those who do not have their own family nearby. Wickham Community Centre is run by Kate whose tireless energy means that the centre is a hub of community projects. The day was finished with a reading at the Portsmouth Cathedral carol service. It was hard work singing in a mask but the choir were amazing as usual. I am looking forward to welcoming the new Bishop of Portsmouth, Bishop Jonathan, to much of the Meon Valley when he is installed early next year.
