Meon Valley MP Flick Drummond has met with Havant Borough Council and other parties to discuss Waterlooville town centre regeneration project.
Getting this regeneration project under way was one of Flick’s key election promises and she was updated on progress.
She was delighted to hear the high level of engagement among the community at a recent consultation event during the briefing that was also attended by consultant Richard Eastham of Feria Urbanism.
“This was a very positive meeting where it is clear there is much enthusiasm for the regeneration and I am delighted to see the community is behind it and progress is starting to happen.
“We need to see a vibrant Waterlooville that local people can be proud of.”
Richard said: “The community open days held in the old Game store were well-attended and the team are currently evaluating all the thoughts and ideas as shared by residents and local people.
“There is a real love for the town centre with many fond memories and a great desire for it to be revived as a community area where people enjoy being.”
In March a further event will be held to reflect what they heard and saw, in the hope that residents will agree the consultants have drawn the right assumptions and can give further feedback.
Flick added: "It is important this is a community lead project and exactly what I wanted to see.”
The vacant shop scheme is also about to be relaunched to seek further tenants and Flick gave a shout out to anyone who might have a business plan to submit their idea.
