Meon Valley MP Flick Drummond put on her gloves and visited Waterlooville Amateur Boxing Club for some ringside tuition after she helped it find new premises
Flick was able to help secure the use of the old police building in the Precinct through Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones during covid and she was pleased to see how it has been transformed since then.
George Mackenzie put Flick through her paces showing her how some of the simple equipment in use can help fitness. He also talked about his passion for this community boxing club.
Flick was really pleased to hear about how much the youngsters in Waterlooville, including George’s special friends, enjoy learning to box and attending sessions.
The doors are always open and some 138 children attend each week.
“Thank you to George for giving me some boxing hints. I am used to throwing punches but only political ones,” said Flick.
“But on a serious note, I was so pleased to see so many young people at the club that is going from strength to strength. It is a great community asset and it was my pleasure to visit.”
More information about the gym is available at: https://www.facebook.com/WaterloovilleABC
