Press release

30 people attended a new business forum on 5th February at the Florence Arms. Aimed at small businesses in Portsmouth and Southsea, it has been set up by Flick Drummond who surveyed many businesses at the end of last year and realised that there was a need for a forum where businesses could openly discuss the issues.

A firm that specialises in reducing business rates, Goodman Nash, gave a presentation and was available for questions. Some of the firms present had used Goodman Nash in the past and received a rebate and reduced rates so others were interested in learning more.

Some of the main concerns during the discussion focused on the price of commercial rubbish collection, parking for business owners and suppliers as well as how to make the area a shopping destination.

‘I was very pleased with the turnout particularly as the weather was so bad’, said Flick, ‘ the enthusiasm of all the businesses present shows that there is a need for a forum where people can discuss their issues and find out how others have come up with solutions. I hope that we can make a difference in Portsmouth and Southsea and become the shopping mecca of the south’.

The next meeting will be on Wednesday 12th March at the Florence Arms at 6pm.
