I have been helping out at the food bank at the Kings Centre in Elm Grove for a few months and some people have asked what are the most useful items to donate. Apart from the obvious ones, cereal and pasta, they could also do with:
- Tinned Fruit
- Tinned vegetables
- Tinned meats
- Fruit juice
- Rice pudding
- Tinned fish
We are often running out of tinned fruit and juice so these would be very welcome. Some of the recipients do not have kitchen facilities so tins with peel back tabs are great.
The numbers are declining of people coming into the food bank as the unemployment is falling fast in Portsmouth, which is great news. Previous issues about late payment of benefits are being addressed and that is also reflected in the reduction of numbers.
