Today’s figures show that Hampshire has had one of the biggest falls in crime in the country, a 24% reduction, the average was 16%.  This is good news for residents in the County.

Flick Drummond, Conservative candidate in Portsmouth South, says ‘this is a testament to the hard working police offices and PCSOs in the County. I was very pleased to hold a meeting with the Home Secretary and Portsmouth PCSOs and Community Wardens recently so she could hear about the good work that is going on in Portsmouth and Southsea. Having been a victim of a burglary while my family slept in our house in Southsea, I know the consequences of crime but I hope this means that we can feel safer in our homes and on our streets’.

The Government is following an action plan to tackle crime by:

  1. Freeing the police to fight crime by cutting red tape and scrapping unnecessary targets
  2. 2.     Giving criminals tougher sentences so communities are protected and justice is done
  3. 3.     Giving the police the powers they need to tackle criminals, using the latest tools and techniques
  4. 4.     Stopping people from becoming criminals by tackling the root causes of crime
  5. 5.     Making the police answer to the community to help drive down crime in your area
