On Tuesday Matt Hancock and the NHS launched NHS Volunteer Responders, a new group that will carry out simple, non-medical tasks to support up to 1.5 million people in England who have been asked to shield themselves from Coronavirus because of their underlying health conditions. Over 702,000 have already volunteered, underlining the energy and compassion of this country to pull together in this time of need. They are working rapidly to ensure that the volunteers are matched with the people most in need. The first volunteers will start next week.
