This last week in Parliament before Recess starts tomorrow has been very busy! On Tuesday luckily I managed to attend Cancer Research's drop-in event where they were celebrating the past, present and future of research to mark the charity’s 20th anniversary.
I also attended the Brain Tumour Awareness Month Parliamentary Drop-in. The Brain Tumour Charity, a UK charity which aims to double the survival and halve the harm that brain tumours have on an individual’s quality of life. Brain tumours are still the biggest cancer killer in children and the under 40s and just 12% of adults survive five years after a brain cancer diagnosis. I met with some young people who have been personally affected by brain tumours and even met a 27 year old girl living with a brain tumour who is from Meon Valley and receiving treatment in Southampton.
I commend the amazing work both these charities are doing on research to stop these horrible diseases. I'm sure every one of us has been touched by some form of cancer so I urge you to support these charities. You can find more information on their websites:
