Very sad to hear the news of the death by lung cancer of one the kindest and most generous Member of Parliament, James Brokenshire. James was always the first to encourage and support any colleague that needed it including travelling around the country to campaign for others.
I visited the scarecrows in Rowlands Castle. Well worth a visit to walk around looking at people’s hard work making these varied scarecrows. I recognised most of them but two of these are very difficult. The theme is Myths and Legends.
This week was dominated by my role as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department of Work and Pensions. We had debates involving DWP in the Chamber on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as other meetings. I was pleased to continue in this role in DWP.
Today I asked the Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon Ben Wallace, about how we are going to integrate members of the Afghan Armed Forces and intelligence officers who have come into the UK through Operation Pitting.
